Latin America. The Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, and the Communications Regulation Commission, CRC, of Colombia held a virtual bilateral dialogue to strengthen technical cooperation ties, with a view to the development of the sector in the region.
The high-level meeting was headed by the IFT President Commissioner, Adolfo Cuevas Teja, and Sergio Martínez Medina, Executive Director of the CRC, who discussed the panorama of the sector, the scope of faculties of both institutions and their main regulatory news.
Likewise, both organizations reaffirmed the willingness to underpin joint work efforts and contribute with elements to promote regulatory harmonization and regional integration, to face the future challenges of telecommunications development.
At the meeting, it was agreed to continue with various technical sessions in which specialists from both regulators will exchange experiences and information regarding regulatory improvement mechanisms and the transition to the e-government scheme, the user protection regime and the projects developed in the field of digital literacy.
In addition, the regulatory actions implemented in terms of net neutrality, conformity assessment, deployment and sharing of infrastructure will be analyzed; the regime of access, use and interconnection and national automatic roaming; as well as the development of the Regulatory Sandbox.
The virtual meeting was attended by the IFT Plenary Commissioners, Javier Juárez Mojica, Arturo Robles Rovalo, Sóstenes Díaz González and Ramiro Camacho Castillo, as well as Commissioners Paola Bonilla Castaño, Nicolas Silva Cortés, María Gutiérrez Torres, Fernando Parada Rodríguez and Ernesto Orozco Orozco, members of the Sessions of the Communications and Audiovisual Content Commission of the CRC.
