Chile. A call to audiovisual filmmakers to apply for the CNTV 2022 Fund, which reaches its 30th edition, was made by the president of the National Television Council, CNTV, Carolina Cuevas Merino.
The Fund available for this year is 4,418,731,000 million Chilean pesos (US5.3 million), of which 30% will be allocated preferentially to programs of regional origin, regardless of the line in which they apply.
"Television continues to occupy an essential place in homes and the pandemic has further relieved its importance as a means of mass and universal communication. That is why it is important to diversify the contents on the screen, that there are regional, local and quality programming that is a contribution to citizens, "said Carolina Cuevas, president of CNTV.
The application period is extended until March 25. The first stage is a technical financial evaluation, then a content evaluation carried out by national and international experts and, the best projects go to the final stage, which is evaluated by the National Television Council. The winners will be announced in October.
Throughout its history, the CNTV Fund has been key in promoting children's programming on free-to-air television. In 1993 this Fund delivered 34 million pesos and the 2022 edition will award 4,418 million pesos and of which, 30% is allocated preferentially to programs of regional origin, regardless of the line in which they apply.
The CNTV Fund, since its first award in 1993, has awarded 470 audiovisual productions, including successful and iconic projects on Chilean TV such as: "31 Minutos", "Los Ochenta", "Los Archivos del Cardenal", "El Reemplazante", "El Niño Rojo", "No", "Violeta Se Fue A Los Cielos", "Inés del Alma Mía", "Isabel", "Neruda" and "El Bosque de Karadima".
