Dalet focuses on agility and flexibility for its customers

bea alonso, dalet

Latin America. In recent months, after the initial impact of the pandemic, the Dalet company has adapted to be able to respond to the needs of the media, providing new solutions and constant updates. Speaking to TVyVideo+Radio, Bea Alonso, Dalet's Chief Market Officer, told details of the company's vision for the industry and its latest news solution.

"Our customers and technology providers like Dalet, we have completely adapted to a way of working that is different. We have discovered that there is another way of working, that it is possible to work and produce content remotely, install and virtual training. In the end, the pandemic has affected us in a positive way, because it has taught us ways of working that we would not have considered possible before. We are in a comparable or better moment before the pandemic, that is, projects are being done, the infrastructure is changing, our customers want to work more in the cloud, make remote work possible for their employees. These talks have accelerated because of what we have experienced in recent months," he said.

Vision of the future
Since announcing the cancellation of NAB in 2020, Dalet has generated a more fluid strategy for the launch of novelties. This strategy ties into the transition to subscription and SAAS, because you don't need to do those oversized upgrades or very long projects. Now the product strategy is to release new versions every short term, a month or six weeks.

"More than a year ago we were governed by a motto that is agility, mobility, flexibility. That means we work hard to make sure our solutions meet the needs of our customers in all three ways, in a market that is changing at an ultrasonic speed. From a business model point of view, it has changed a lot for us in the last 12 months. We move to subscription and SAAS offers, we have renewed our entire product offering so that the customer can finance it from the Opex and not Capex point of view. This brings our customers more economic flexibility, when choosing how they want to invest in technology," he explained.

Dalet Pyramid, solution for news
One of the company's most recent innovations is Dalet Pyramid, which condenses 30 years of work in Dalet newsrooms, taking into account the feedback of customers and users to create an entirely new solution that fits the needs of today's newsrooms. For example, it is cloud native or hybrid.

The representative of Dalet said that "The best qualities of the previous system, Dalet Galaxy, have been taken, added a series of novelties, such as providing a configurable workspace, we include the Storytelling 360 concept, several teams can work at the same time on the same news, favoring the differential work for linear television and digital media, responding to the immediacy required by cross-platform content. It also features AI features for transcription, translation, subtitle creation, context-based recommendations, and automatic editing of highlights."

Dalet Pyramid is not only intended for large newsrooms, it is also designed for a company of any size or even for those that are 100% digital. The system is now available in Latam.

Finally, Bea Alonso pointed out that "The Latin American market for Dalet is at a very interesting point. Despite the fact that the pandemic slowed down the projects, what we have seen is dynamism in the last 4 months. We managed to close several projects in countries such as El Salvador, Colombia, and in 2021 we see that more investments and more projects have already begun by 2022 as well. To this is added the consolidation of large North American media groups that have a special interest in Latin America and that already work with Dalet."
