Nagra joins the SBTVD Digital TV Forum in Brazil

Foro SBTVDBrazil. Nagra is the most recent member of the Brazilian Forum of Digital TV Systems, SBTVD Forum, an association that aims to provide technical advice to the Brazilian government in the implementation of the digital TV service in the country.

The SBTVD Forum is a non-profit organization, which brings together broadcasters, televisions, transmitters, receivers and software manufacturers, as well as universities and research centers dedicated to the development of technical standards.

The importance of promoting dialogue between the different companies that make up 80% of the market value chain lies in promoting constant improvements in the Digital Terrestrial TV standard, facilitating the development of specifications of the test suite that ensure the interoperability of equipment in all countries that use the same digital television standard.

As a result of this joint work between the private sector and the government, the ISDB-T system (TV standard initially adopted by Brazil and Japan) has already reached 19 countries, in order to open new commercial markets for Brazilian companies.

For the Country Manager of Nagra in Brazil, Luiz Barioni, being part of the SBTVD Forum is a great achievement. "The composition of this renowned dialogue forum that includes and integrates different sectors of the industry will allow us to exchange experiences, identify needs and, certainly, jointly build modern and quality solutions for the benefit of digital TV in Brazil. We are committed to sharing knowledge and experiences on security in software technologies, open, integrated into broadcast, broadband and mobile platforms, that bring benefits to the end consumer with attractive and personalized viewing experiences, and this together with the other leaders in the industry," said Barioni.

Currently, the SBTVD Forum discusses the final phase of implementation of TV 2.5, whose main resource is DTV Play (a device that allows integration with streaming) while evaluating technologies for TV 3.0, the future Standard of Digital TV, to be adopted in Brazil.
