Chile. In 2020 when the situation of the Covid19 pandemic forced broadcasters to bet on new formulas of remote work, the company CNC Medios had already established that work thanks to the IP connectivity of the latest audio mixers.
"But we realized we needed to strengthen our capacity to generate dynamic, quality programs, even if the obligation of teleworking did not make it especially easy. And that's when AEQ launched its TALENT portable audiocodec at the perfect time for our plans," said Marcelo Mendizábal, General Director of CNC Medios.
The company already had AEQ audiocodecs such as the MERCURY or VENUS3 units distributed in its studios, but it was not the ideal solution for a journalist to operate with them from home. But the new TALENT seemed to be able to offer the ideal solution: small, easy to operate, digital quality with IP connection and robust. In addition, AEQ technicians remotely helped the first days to discover all the options of these equipment and to configure them in the most appropriate way for the specific operation.
"Currently all our star journalists have one in their homes, and for some time now they have been connecting with the central studios thanks to them. The control surface of the TALENT is very simple and with just pressing a couple of buttons our journalists even the least expert easily enter the programs, but also the app for cell phones PILOT offers them the option to manage them directly from their own cell phones, and what is better until you put interviews with distant guests who come to the team via Skype or Whatsapp. The TALENT of AEQ are a jewel, that something so small allows to do so many things, "added the director.
Finally, in the technical center of the group they have a PC where they have installed the AEQ CONTROLPHOENIX MULTI application, which allows the technical staff in real time to monitor the status of all AEQ audiocodecs and if it is necessary to intervene to modify any configuration or solve errors. This application shows on a very intuitive screen images of all the equipment at that moment turned on and the exact state of connection, as well as real vúmetros of the audio signal that is being transmitted by them.
"All the AEQ audiocodecs we work with have the OPUS algorithm included by default, and we have also been phenomenal for free registration on their SIP server because we avoid having to complicate the deployment of the parts assembled one of ours," added Marcelo Mendiezábal.
CNC Medios is a communications company in northern Chile, headquartered in the city of Antofagasta, which includes two television channels and three radio stations: Canal95, FM Plus and FM Quiero. They are also members of ARCHI, the Chilean Radio Association.
