Colombia. Community channels and local non-profit operators in Bogotá, Risaralda and Boyacá premiere in July new audiovisual productions, co-financed last year by the Ministry of ICT through the Abre Cámara call.
The four series that will air are: Luminaria, Cambio de Batalla, Lugares Colombia and el Camino de los Siglos, which investigate Colombian identity in different regions through stories of peace and conflict resolution, cultural heritage, artisan crafts and incredible places in the regions.
"We are proud that our Abre Cámara audiovisual calls are an opportunity for Community Channels and non-profit operators to continue working to tell stories that highlight the value of our Colombian identity. These productions of the highest quality motivate us to continue working for the reactivation and strengthening of the Colombian audiovisual sector," said Karen Abudinen, ICT Minister, who invited us to enjoy these national productions that reflect and make visible the reality of the regions.
The ICT minister reported that this year the Abre Cámara call selected 73 projects that will be distributed 23,404 million Colombian pesos, to benefit the Colombian audiovisual industry.
"With this call we support the financing of the projects and accompany them in each of the phases of pre-production, production and post-production; we present them to regional channels and strengthen the economic reactivation and the impulse in the market of the producers of the audiovisual industry, "said Abudinen, who highlighted the commitment, dedication and enthusiasm of the chosen proposals.
Jefferson Jiménez Díaz, director of Luminaria, winning production in Garagoa (Boyacá) said: "Working on a documentary project in which the artisans, protagonists of the story, put the soul to their creations and have the possibility of being witnesses with the production team of it, takes on special value considering that we are telling our stories, the stories of our region, of our territories and of the memories that are woven around the Boyaca tradition".
The audiovisual projects that will be released were shot during 2020, a year that meant new challenges in the audiovisual sector. "The Abre Cámara Audiovisual Calls is a very important incentive for Colombian production companies and channels to develop productions and continue contributing to the country's audiovisual industry. This initiative allowed us to have the possibility to work in our area and project our ideas in the first year of the pandemic," said Orlando Acevedo, director of Lugares Colombia.
