Mexico. On May 30, the Latin American Institute of Educational Communication, ILCE, celebrated 65 years of proposing, articulating and promoting cutting-edge educational projects that generate innovative learning experiences to improve educational models.
To this end, the ILCE has as its support a state-of-the-art technology in the production, transmission and dissemination of its contents through the satellite television channels that it operates with national and international coverage: Canal Internacional and Canal 15, television and Radio ILCE.
IGSON was the company in charge of offering a solution that would facilitate and make this operation more efficient.
IgSON Four Operation
With the aim of automating the continental chain and going on the air with a 4-channel "Channel In a Box" playout, ILCE relied on Igson Cuatro for the operation of its workflow.
For the Institute it was necessary to have a software that would allow it to manage different guidelines for the international signal (Latin America) in HD, the national signal (Mexico) in HD and replicate the International signal in SD.
This is possible thanks to the fact that Igson Cuatro has four video SDI outputs that can be in SD or HD. In addition, playlists can be managed independently with their respective automatic opening to ensure 24/7 transmission.
Another of the ilce's needs was to launch a replica of its International signal in SD. Currently this is possible thanks to the function of doubling the PGM of the channel to one of the channels available in Igson Cuatro. Being independent channels, the resolutions can be configured, achieving that in addition to doubling the signal without the need to transmit another playlist, this one can come out in SD.
Together with Igson Cuatro, a scheduler module was put into operation for the localization of their material and creation of the playlists, which manages the database for the four channels.
From the scheduler the user can preview any video in the database, generate virtual subclips, trims and review the audio of the material, all this in order to validate all the material before going on the air.
Another function available in the guideline planner is to prepare the automation of up to four graphic events for each event in the playlist. In the guideline planner you can view the database and edit metadata such as ID, description, Kill Date and in case you need to schedule RTMP or UDP streams, these can be registered from this program.
The engineer José Alfredo López Veldañez, in charge of the Department of Transmissions of the ILCE, stressed that: "From the operation of Igson Cuatro, the operation changed radically since it was possible to automate the channels 24/7 with the previous elaboration of the playlist, even with the insertion of live broadcasts".
