Mexico. A few weeks ago the open television channel of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, TV BUAP, was inaugurated. To start their broadcasts they have chosen several Igson solutions.
TV BUAP has a program that addresses topics such as innovation, research, culture, teaching, spaces for music as well as content for children. The BUAP TV signal is transmitted through free-to-air television channel 18.1 and also through different cable or satellite television providers.
Igson Broadcast Center has been chosen as its main playout system, graphics, MAM and automated master control for channel 18.1. Also, igson Production Play two-channel has been integrated into the production booth as a playout for briefing notes, as well as Igson Capture for multi-format ingestion.
Ensuring continuity 24/7 TV BUAP required a system that allowed to manage playlists in an automated way and a playout of two bidirectional channels to be able to broadcast, capture and record video signals. With the complete Igson Broadcast Center solution, they were able to flexibly implement this need, adapting the suite to their workflow.
As for the management of multimedia material of the channel, the Igson MAM software was successfully implemented for the creation of playlists and for the management of all videos recorded from Igson Capture in the production area.
Another need in the workflow of TV BUAP was to have in its production area a playout for the production of its informative newscast. For this case, two multiformat playout channels were required to launch the notes according to the order of the entire production team, in addition to having availability of all that material in a database where they could quickly locate the files. Igson Production Play became that tool since it allows to process and reproduce in a fast and orderly way each of the notes that arrive from its editing areas.
Finally, for the production it was essential to have an ingest automation software to be able to capture several sources that had to be recorded either from the studio, satellite signal or even the signal of the program itself. Igson Capure fulfills that need in detail by offering a fully automated recording list by dates and times. This software allows TV BUAP to monitor up to 4 signals per baseband and configure up to 20 recording paths, in addition to being compatible with the most common codecs such as H264, H265, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, XDCAM, etc.
In addition, soon, the second BUAP TV channel, channel 18.2 of open television, will begin its transmission and will use Igson PlayNow Plus as a playout solution, graphics, and continuity automation.
