Peru. The Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, granted 54 frequencies that will benefit approximately 607,670 inhabitants with access to fm services.
The frequencies awarded correspond to 17 localities that are located in the regions of Áncash, Apurímac, Cajamarca, Cusco, Huancavelica, Junín, La Libertad, Piura, San Martín and Ucayali.
Thus, within the awarded localities, there are two that will have the FM radio service for the first time. They are: Pueblo Libre (Áncash) and Pacaipampa (Piura). "This is extremely important, because the population of these localities will be able to stay informed through this means," said the general director of Authorizations in Telecommunications, Mariella Carrasco.
The Public Tender N°01- 2020 - MTC/28, carried out for the first time virtually, was in charge of the General Directorate of Authorizations in Telecommunications, in coordination with the Committee for the Reception and Evaluation of Proposals 2020.
"Through this call, the MTC continues to promote the provision of the broadcasting service throughout the national territory, giving special emphasis on rural areas and of preferential social interest," said Carrasco.
Likewise, in the case of the town of Echarate, Cusco, in which it was declared deserted, as none of its frequencies have been awarded, the General Directorate of Authorizations in Telecommunications will carry out the corresponding procedure so that in that locality the authorizations can be granted at the request of a party; this is in accordance with the provisions of article 46 of the Regulations of the Radio and Television Law.
