Verizon Supports Univision with 5G for Liga MX Matches

verizon logoMexico. Verizon and Univision today announced a multi-year partnership that will be able to offer fans advanced 5G experiences to watch the most watched soccer league in the United States, Liga MX.

With the partnership, Univision will exclusively launch the TUDN Vision content portal experience, where fans can tour the stadium with 360-degree shots and get closer to the action with players, spectators and more. Verizon will also collaborate with Univision to create virtual production processes and enhance them with 5G, as well as participate in Univision's enhanced data analytics.

TUDN Vision is a 360-degree portal experience that offers fans the opportunity to watch exclusive and interactive content from Liga MX matches. TUDN Vision will be offered in the TUDN app or in internet browsers to fans in the United States. The experience will allow fans to tour the stadium in 360-degree shots and see the arrival of the players and spectators present, the warm-up and training sessions of the players, the post-match conferences and more. TUDN Vision will start on April 17, 2021 during the match between Cruz Azul and América.

Verizon plans to work with Univision to make broadcast production processes virtual and perform them with 5G Ultra broadband in the fall friendly matches in the United States, if allowed by restrictions due to Covid-19 in the country. The matches will be held in verizon's 5G Ultra broadband stadiums, where Univision's production teams will be able to perform their entire process with Verizon's 5G. Verizon and Univision will also continue to create immersive experiences for fans at the stadium.

"This partnership between Verizon and Univision is an excellent example of how 5G can be used to enable fan experiences and advance the future of second-screen experiences," said John Nitti, Verizon's chief media officer. "We know how much football fans are passionate about the sport, the teams and the players, and this is a great opportunity to enhance the interaction for the audience."

"TUDN Vision will be a dynamic companion that will magnify the matchday experience, and together with our new enhanced analytics features, will help enhance our award-winning Liga MX coverage."

As part of the partnership, Verizon will also join Univision's TUDN analytics feature. This technology will use patented cameras in stadiums to capture data for analytics and overlay augmented reality transparencies so that fans have a superior experience when watching broadcasts in traditional media, powered by Chyron and Tracab. This will allow for special functions during matches, such as repeating the most exciting plays. It will also include segments from the studio, presented in a special set in "Sports Contact" and "Mission Europe", which will cover the best plays of the matches, in addition to using unique graphics and augmented reality.
