Latin America. The Vitec Group announced the acquisition of LED lighting technology provider Quasar Science, which will become part of the company's Prodution Solutions Division.
Quasar Science, which develops linear and tubular LED lighting for film and TV applications, will join Litepanels as part of the division.
"Quasar Science's products are very complementary to our Litepanels brand," said Nicola Dal Toso, CEO of Vitec Production Solutions. "There are growth opportunities to sell Quasar Science products through our global sales and distribution network, and to use their expertise to grow our Litepanels business in the film market. Quasar Science will also benefit from Vitec's marketing, manufacturing and supply chain capabilities."
Los Angeles-based Quasar Science has developed lights that have proven popular with professional cinematographers, videographers and photographers because of the affordability and quality of its products, as well as its customer support, the company said.
"Having the Quasar team and their talent within our portfolio, for new product development, on-set experience will enhance our position as a leading player in the growing market for LED lighting for audiovisual and film production."
Quasar Science was founded in 2012 by four experienced lighting technical partners, Steven Strong, Evans Brown, Jay Yowler and Ray Gonzales. They will remain in the company and continue to lead the team.

Vidiexco will continue to handle the distribution of both lines for the region
The news will also provide new opportunities for customers and users in the region. Currently both lines are being distributed in Latin America and the Caribbean by Vidiexco, and with this acquisition better integrations and more competitive prices are expected for their products.
