Osiptel published rights of telecommunications users

derechos de usuarios, osiptelPeru. With the commemoration this March 15 of Consumer Day in Peru, the Supervisory Body for Private Investment in Telecommunications, Osiptel, reported that there are fundamental rights that every user should know before, during and after contracting fixed or mobile telephony, pay television or Internet services, as well as packaged services.

That is why the Osiptel promotes the decalogue of "Users with Power", because it is important that they know, learn and defend their rights as users of telecommunications services. Thus, users have the right to:

- Freely choose the service, plan or promotion that best suits you.
- Receive the service contract
- Have an uninterrupted and quality service.
- File a claim and receive a code from the operator.
- Receive clear, detailed and updated information.
- Receive a detailed payment receipt.
- Keep the same number, even if you change operators. The portability process is 100% free.
- Unsubscribe from your service without conditioning or explanations.
- Lock the equipment and suspend the service for loss or theft.
- Temporarily suspend the service.

Knowing the rights
All users should know that they have the right to receive a copy of their contract for the service immediately, if the contract is made in person. In case the contract is made by phone or other non-face-to-face means, the operating company must send it in 2 working days by email, unless the user requests its physical delivery to his home, within 10 business days.

On the other hand, in case they will not use the service for a long time, they can ask for a temporary suspension of it, from 15 days to 2 months in a year. During that period, the operating company should not charge you for the service.

Likewise, every user has the right to choose the service, plan or promotion that best suits him. If the operating company does not allow it, it may file a claim for the refusal to contract the service, and must respond within a maximum period of 25 business days. At all times, the user has the right to receive clear, detailed and up-to-date information.
