Colombia. The station Ecos del Combeima, located in the city of Ibagué, Tolima, in its process of technological renovation during the transfer of its broadcast studios to the ACQUA building, in the heart of the World Trade Center of that city, has decided to install the Audio over IP technology offered by the Spanish firm Prodys to meet its needs of transmission of AoIP-N / ACIP.
Among the main objectives of this renovation, it was sought to improve the sound quality between Studios-Transmitters, through a 100% IP STL digital link, to avoid interference inconveniences, overcome the conditioning of bandwidth in UHF, among many other limitations that were desired to correct / improve.
In addition to this requirement, they needed to guarantee a totally reliable and robust IP audio contribution system, which offered dynamic and integral solutions for radio production both from home (given the restrictions and curfews generated by COVID-19) and from anywhere in the city, Colombia and the world where a news item was presented, but with a defined budget that did not exceed the threshold designated by management.
It was there that from Aspa Andina they proposed a solution with the Prodys IP Audiocoders implementing in their studios a stationary Quantum ST Dual equipment, which incorporates in a single Rack unit two bidirectional IP audiocoders totally independent, manageable both from its WEB interface and from the 5-inch touch screen, which allows total control of the equipment.
In transmitters, a stationary Quantum Lite ST equipment of half a Rack unit was installed, which connects unidirectionally with the Audiocoder # 1 of the Quantum ST Dual located in studios through an MPLS network implemented by the management of the station in agreement with Movistar Colombia.
For the requirement of external contributions/ transmissions, a Quantum Lite portable equipment was supplied that connects bidirectionally with the Audiocoder # 2 of the Quantum ST Dual through the Brave protocol developed by Prodys, which allows to add in real time the transmission capacity of 4 totally independent IP interfaces (2 SIM Card from different operator, 1 WIFI and 1 Ethernet/LAN interface), in addition to the recorder functions, integrated into the portable transmission equipment, as well as the ability to incorporate different audio sources through its audio matrix (Microphone Input / Analog Line (Mono), Analog Line Input (Stereo) and USB Input / Output to connect any PC to the laptop), all this at a low cost, in relation to the benefits offered.
