Peru calls for tenders to award radio frequencies

mtc, nuevas radiosPeru. In order to expand broadcasting services in Peru, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, called for two public tenders to grant up to 121 FM radio frequencies, under an open and transparent procedure that prioritizes educational and integration content at the national level.

The calls offer frequencies in the FM band in localities of the departments of Áncash, Apurímac, Cajamarca, Cusco, Huancavelica, Huánuco, Junín, La Libertad, San Martín, Piura, Ucayali, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Madre de Dios, Puno and Lima.

"It is important to note that these calls promote the assignment of frequencies in places where there are no authorized stations. The objective is to expand the coverage of broadcasting services to allow more Peruvians to have access to radio," said Mariella Carrasco, director general of the General Directorate of Telecommunications Authorizations (DGAT).

It should be noted that, within the localities contemplated, there are 10 considered as rural or of preferential social interest that do not currently have the FM radio service. They are: Andarapa (Apurimac); Calacoa-Cuchumbaya (Moquegua); Seccelambras, Accos Vinchos and Socos (Ayacucho); Calango (Lima); Infierno and Nueva Arequipa (Madre de Dios); and Copani (Puno).
