CRC presents Code of Good Practice for Infrastructure

crc infraestructuraColombia. The Communications Regulatory Commission, CRC, updated the Code of Good Practice that contains a characterization of the agents involved, the list of the main applicable national standards, the types of existing barriers, including TV and radio services.

In addition, it contains the considerations regarding the deployment of 5G networks and the regulatory information on limits of human exposure to electromagnetic fields issued by the National Spectrum Agency – ANE. This update was adopted by the CRC through Circular 131 of 2020.

With the publication of this document of good practices, the CRC seeks to provide tools so that the teams of the territorial authorities can quickly and clearly access the relevant information on telecommunications networks, which allows them to be accredited before the CRC as barrier-free municipalities, as provided for in article 309 of Law 1955 of 2019 (PND). Accredited municipalities may be prioritized by the Ministry of ICT to access the benefit of new coverage for telephony and mobile internet, through the programs that the Ministry advances.

"With this updated code we seek to provide more tools for municipalities to update their regulations accompanying the connectivity policy led by the ICT Ministry to promote greater investment in infrastructure and the development of the regions. To date we have certified 209 municipalities as barrier-free, so we invite mayors who have not yet started the process to consult this manual that will provide them with information on the relevant actions to be accredited, "explained Carlos Lugo Silva, Commissioner and Executive Director of the CRC.
