Chile. The president of the National Television Council, Catalina Parot; the Minister of Education, Raúl Figueroa; the president of Anatel, Ernesto Corona, and the executive directors of the free-to-air television channels, announced the extension of the educational signal TV Educa Chile until December 2020.
"TV Educa has had an extraordinary reception from parents, caregivers and the child audience itself and that is why the decision to extend this channel is highly anticipated. According to our surveys, 86% of respondents wanted the signal to continue beyond the pandemic. Every day there are more educational programs that are added to the programmatic grid and as a National Television Council we are working on new premieres for the coming weeks. That is why we greatly value the extension until the end of this year and we hope that this educational signal will be installed over time, "says the president of the CNTV, Catalina Parot.
"The very good reception of TV Educa Chile and the situation that classes are still suspended, motivated all free-to-air TV channels to maintain the signal until December 31. The generous collaboration of the television stations together with the Ministry of Education, the CNTV, foundations, production companies, cable operators and regional TV has made it possible to support children in these critical moments. We are very grateful for the great response and happy with what we have obtained," said the president of Anatel, Ernesto Corona.
For his part, the Minister of Education, Raúl Figueroa, said that "we value and appreciate the commitment of the National Television Council and Anatel to continue supporting the distance learning of thousands of children in the country through TV Educa. The good results achieved by the educational channel show the important contribution it has meant for thousands of students and parents, who value the dissemination of educational content on television".
In addition to the president of the CNTV, Catalina Parot; the Minister of Education, Raúl Figueroa; and the president of Anatel, Ernesto Corona, the meeting in which the continuation of TV Educa Chile was made official was attended by the executive directors of Canal 13 and TVN, Maximiliano Luksic and Francisco Guijón; Mega's Deputy Communications Manager, Natalia Núñez; and the members of the editorial committee of the educational signal, Mariana Hidalgo and Loreto Sanhueza.
