Mexico. The Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, agreed to extend the suspension of face-to-face activities until June 30, 2020, with the intention of preserving the safety of its human capital and contributing to preventive social distancing measures.
As has happened since the first Agreement to suspend face-to-face work was issued on March 27 of this year, the Institute will continue to work to ensure compliance with its constitutional mandate to monitor the continuity and quality of telecommunications and broadcasting services for the benefit of all users and audiences in Mexico.
As has happened since the beginning of the health contingency, in order to protect the health of its employees, the IFT will continue with its daily substantive operations through teleworking, the Plenary will continue to meet virtually and hold remote meetings with representatives of the industry for the achievement of agreements that aim to support users and ensure that they remain communicated during the COVID-19 pandemic, among other activities.
With the Agreement approved by the Plenary, the counting of the deadlines foreseen by periods or calendar days, as well as those foreseen in working days, will resume as of Wednesday, July 1, 2020.
In addition to the procedures authorized in the previous Agreements adopted by the Plenary, which will remain in force, it was approved that the Radio Spectrum Unit enable two procedures: the EBU-01-003 "Request for inclusion in the annual program of use and exploitation of frequency bands", which can be carried out through the form contained in the Institute's internet portal: www.ift.org.mx/pabf or via email to the address [email protected]; as well as the EBU-01-004 "Request of interested party to obtain orbital resources in favor of the Mexican State", for which interested parties must send the corresponding request through the email [email protected]
It is important to mention that, in the event that some of the procedures or administrative activities of the Institute require the partial physical presence of public servants, this will be carried out during ordinary working hours and without prejudice to the health and security measures that are applicable and considered pertinent.
