Latin America. Hitachi Kokusai Electric America introduced powerful new features in the recently introduced CU-HD550 series of camera control units (CCUs).
According to Tyke Manalang, sales director for Canada, Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean at Hitachi Kokusai Electric America, the new CU-HD550 model helps ease producers' transition from HD to Ultra HD by transforming natively acquired 1080p video to 4K resolution and emitting the result through a single 12G-SDI link.
"4K output functionality supports High Dynamic Range when used with an HDR-enabled camera, while the color matrix of the 12 Gbps SDI output can be switched between ITU-Rec.709 and BT.2020 color spaces. In addition, when used with a Hitachi camera with HDR capability, the dual workflow functionality in the new CU-HD550 model enables parallel HDR/SDR acquisition with a single camera by providing separate video shading settings for HDR and SDR outputs."
On serving customers in the region during this time of Covid-19, Tyke Manalang assured that "most of our staff are working remotely, but we are open to business to address any of our clients' needs. I am available to assist customers with their projects and opportunities, and our service, engineering and parts departments can answer any questions or concerns. At the time of writing, we are still able to ship the necessary components to our customers in Latin America with very little delay."
Finally, he highlighted that with the Mexican integrator Comtelsat installed the Hitachi SK-UHD4000 4K cameras and the DK-H200 1080p box cameras for the project of the Congress of Mexico. Hitachi cameras are used in Mexico's Main Congressional Chamber, as well as in the studio and meeting rooms to broadcast live and recorded sessions with the Independent Congress Station.
