NAB. The global alert for Covid-19 continues to have effects on the 2020 version of NAB Show. Although the fair is still on the agenda between April 19 and 22, more and more companies are withdrawing their participation. This week it was learned that Adobe, Avid, TVU, Ross Video and Bit Central will not be in Las Vegas.
The Avid company announced the cancellation of both its participation in the fair and the Avid Connect, a previous event that brings together Avid customers and distributors around the world. Their decision includes the cancellation of all scheduled events for the next 60 days.
On adobe's side, the company said it's a decision for the health and safety of its employees, customers and partners. "We look forward to interacting with our NAB community through a digital experience in the near future."
David Ross, CEO of Ross Video, said: "We regret to announce that we will be retiring from the 2020 NAB Show. Ross has been present at every NAB since 1974 and it has not been an easy decision to make, but we have a clear duty to our employees, our customers and their families. Ross is not alone in this. Many of our customers and partners have implemented travel restrictions due to concerns about the growing number of Covid-19 cases around the world."
TVU Networks also canceled its participation in the NAB Show citing concerns about the health and safety of employees, colleagues and their friends and family in light of the coronavirus outbreak.
Paul Shen, CEO, TVU Networks said: "We did not take this decision lightly and came to this conclusion after considerable and lengthy deliberation. It's one of a series of steps we're taking as a company on behalf of our staff and colleagues. TVU has been a fervent supporter of the NAB Show, and we will continue to participate in the future. While we won't physically be in Las Vegas, we are exploring with NAB alternative ways to share the news and demonstrations we plan for the April show."
Bitcentral said it has proudly participated in the NAB Show for 20 years and has been a big supporter of the show, and plans to exhibit at its upcoming events.
These companies join Aja and Imagine Products, companies that also announced their retirement from the Las Vegas show this year.
