Brazil. The National Telecommunications Agency, Anatel, published the new Regulation for the conformity assessment and approval of telecommunications products. With the new regulation, the charges for issuing the certificate of approval end.
The fee waiver is valid for all telecommunications products approved by Anatel and benefits radio amateurs, drone owners and consumers who import products for their own use, among others.
In the conformity assessment process, the equipment is subject to verification of technical standards and laboratory tests that seek to ensure that they are properly tested and approved for use in Brazil. The measure applies to telephones, devices or items that use telecommunications, including their accessories and peripherals.
Regulation makes assessment procedures and models faster and more versatile, simplifying and reducing bureaucracy in the conformity assessment process, while maintaining the requirement of high quality and safety standards for the consumer.
May require conformity assessment and approval: the manufacturer of the telecommunications product; the business representative of a foreign legal entity; and any natural or legal person, when for their own use.
Anatel President Leonardo De Morais, who cast the vote that led the decision at the Agency's Board of Directors meeting on October 17, highlighted the importance of the initiative: "This is a necessary evolution to give greater flexibility, reliability and speed to the process and reduce regulatory barriers and transaction costs, in line with the economic policy guidelines issued by the Ministry of Economy".
