Peru. With the aim of improving the quality of public telecommunications services, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, published the regulatory proposal that incorporates the guidelines for the development of new services and digital technologies such as 5G.
In addition, it contemplates the protection of users' personal data and encourages the deployment of state-of-the-art infrastructure (small cells, smart poles or others), which will allow offering services with greater bandwidth and minimum delay in communications.
"We promote the expansion of services with better quality and the installation of new infrastructure in an environmentally friendly way," said the general director of Communications Policies and Regulation, José Aguilar.
In addition, the initiative indicates that the MTC will establish security mechanisms that must be complied with by suppliers and operators that deploy their telecommunications network in Peruvian territory, in order to safeguard the personal data of citizens.
"To improve the current coverage of communications services, it is proposed to promote the sharing of active network bases (antennas and equipment) between several operators, which has a positive impact on the landscape environment," Aguilar said.
Another proposed measure is national roaming. It will allow citizens to stay connected even when their operator does not have coverage. José Aguilar stressed that "this is of vital importance in situations of alert or after an emergency."
