Enacom granted definitive license to 34 stations

Argentina. The National Communications Agency (Enacom) granted 34 definitive licenses to provide FM broadcasting services to holders who had Precarious and Provisional Permits (PPP).

This group of broadcasters operate in the provinces of Santa Fe, Mendoza, Entre Ríos, Córdoba, Corrientes, Chaco, Tucumán, San Juan, Salta, Buenos Aires and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA).

With the delivery of these new permits, Enacom has already approved so far the regularization of 120 stations, thus advancing in the objective of promoting the plurality of voices by equalizing in rights all providers of audiovisual media services.

The event was headed by the President of the entity, Silvana Giudici, who said: "During the management of these permits, the editorial line or political preference was never looked at. In fact, the plurality of this space with all of you demonstrates this since you are the reflection of the current audiovisual policy of this government that has been concerned with maintaining this plurality of voices and diversity in the contents respecting freedom of expression and generating competition in the market. We do not believe in a policy aimed only at commercial media or large urban centres. We believe that the cultural good that each of you represents as broadcasters, opinion formers and reflection of local culture is what makes Argentine broadcasting great."
