Latin America. IP technologies will gradually be placed as the standard to follow and establish themselves as the main one, due to the multiple advantages it offers, John Humprey, VP of Business Development at Hitachi Kokusai Electric America, told TVyVideo+Radio.
"That's where we're going. The computer industry spends 100 times more than the television industry, we have more power, more research and development, more capabilities at increasingly achievable prices, as opposed to broadcast equipment that is very expensive. So over time that's where the industry will go. IP is a hybrid system, SDI will go, we will have less and less SDI to have more and more video over IP. Today it is likely to put more a complete SMPTE 2110 system, but like all computer equipment it will be increasingly cheaper to have more common equipment available and not specific equipment for an industry like broadcast, "said Humprey.
One of the examples of the establishment of IP technologies is its new camera model. "The SK-HD1000 is our new camera. It combines all the premium features at an affordable price. It has three CMOS chips, progressive scanning. The camera has a remote filter, which is new, is based similar to the one it has to the remote filter of the Z-HD5000 HDTV, which makes it ideal for mobile, remote or enclosure applications. This is a major change. The CCU can go with the camera, has conversion to 4K, has an SMPTE 2110 video output, has dual simultaneous HDR and HDRS outputs with separate settings. I think it has everything you need today, and this camera is reasonably priced, less lenses, it depends on the exact setup."
And he detailed about this equipment: "You can choose the SMPTE 2110, which is causing influence right now, so we provide a video output for SMPTE 2110. By September we will have an input and output of video, as well as the technology is progressing and the people who produce SFP Transceiver (small form-factor pluggable) create the video over IP, like the available products, it will be done more and more on IP. Just as the whole industry is doing more and more."
On the company's penetration in Latin America, Humprey stated: "In 2018 we had very successful sales in Mexico, the products involved were 4K cameras, as well as SHV robotic cameras; we sold some robotic systems in these projects, each for the Mexican Congress. The other robotic cameras we successfully sold were in Chile, where we sold to the Senate and Channel 13. So the market in Latin America is an accurate market."
