In filming captain Marvel Blackmagic Design was used

Latin America. Blackmagic Design's Micro Cinema camera was used to record some important action scenes in marvel Studios' Captain Marvel film. The person responsible for the twenty-first installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was the filmmaker Ben Davis, BSC, with great career in Marvel films.

Since they had already opted for a large digital camera and different spherical lenses and Panavision PVintage, Davis needed a more versatile and compact unit, in order to access different alternatives during filming. "We tried various possibilities in search of that magical combination of size and quality, and the Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera model took all the laurels," said the filmmaker.

In addition, according to Davis, they used as few accessories as possible with the camera, which allowed the wireless transmitter to be separated so that it could enter the cameraman's backpack.

He added that "In the past, I had made the mistake of assembling small action cameras with large lenses, a protective housing, a focus controller, a framing monitor and a transmitter in order to transfer all the information. However, all this contradicted the main reason why we chose to use the camera in the first place."

On the other hand, he added: "In the filming of 'Captain Marvel', we created cases for the cameras, but we ended up using them very little. The frame is so sturdy that, in my opinion, it doesn't require anything else." For example, Davis used clamps or arms to mount the units on vehicles and adjusted the focus accordingly. Then, once the sequence was over, I would check the material, make the appropriate adjustments, and rearrange everything for the next shot.

"This is where the true usefulness of the camera is demonstrated. It is very fast to prepare them. In general, we use two or three at the same time in sequences like the one on the karting track. It was a matter of putting everything together, turning them on and starting to record. There was a lot of vibration and bumps in the cars, but we captured the material perfectly," he added.

The Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera model was used for principal photography, which was conducted in Los Angeles and Louisiana, by Davis and the second unit.
