EVS delivers the first IP live production servers

International. EVS's latest XT production servers have successfully passed the Joint Task Force in Networked Media's JT-NM SMPTE ST 2110 tests. They are among the first products, and are the first live production servers, to be produced and shipped with full IP interoperability, in line with the AIMS Alliance roadmap and open standards agreed by the industry.

Its new Multicam 16.2 software engine, on which XT servers run, will be released publicly in June 2019 and supports more of the JT-NM technology stack, as well as NMOS IS-04 and NMOS IS-05 updates. All EVS servers with the updated engine, including XT and XS-VIA servers, as well as previous-generation XT4K and XS4K servers, natively support IP and comply with compliance standards to enable a smooth transition to IP workflows and lay the foundation for future productions.

The SMPTE ST 2110 suite of standards for professional media over managed IP networks specifies the transport, synchronization and description of independent elemental essence streams over professional REAL-time IP networks for live production, broadcast and other professional media applications. Standards are critical to moving professional media industries toward a common IP-based mechanism.

"This SMPTE test program overseen by the Joint Task Force on Networked Media is critical to ensuring that end users can trust that the products they purchase actually meet their claims," said Axel Blanckaert, Director of EVS.

"It's also an important part of distinguishing our servers as complete native IP solutions rather than simply gateway products or terminal equipment. EVS is committed to creating production tools that support open standards that help deliver the far-reaching benefits of IP-based media production."

The Joint Working Group on Network media is a self-coordinated group led by the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), European Broadcasting Union (EBU), Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) and Video Services Forum (VSF). These industry bodies work together on the development of IP technologies for professional media.
