Colombia. With the publication of Resolution 925 of April 25, 2019, the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies, MinTIC, invites national and international stakeholders to express their interest in participating in the auction process of the radio spectrum in the bands of 700, 1,900 and 2,500 megahertz (MHz).
"The allocation of permits for the use of spectrum in these bands has great potential, to bring quality connectivity to the regions and benefit people who today lack this service, especially in rural or difficult to access areas," said the Minister of ICT, Sylvia Constaín.
Those interested may express their interest from May 2 to 6 through written communication addressed to MinTIC (Murillo Toro Building, Cra. 8 between streets 12a and 12b, floor 1 in the city of Bogotá) or by email [email protected].
On the first of April, the MinTIC published the 'Spectrum Auction Action Plan' with which it began the process of assigning permits for the use of these bands, and allowed the passage for this Thursday to sign the Resolution on the expression of interest.
In the next five months, the draft resolution opening the spectrum allocation process will be published with the accompaniment of the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC) and the control bodies, to receive the comments of the general public, guarantee transparency, plurality and free competition throughout the process. Finally, in the fourth quarter of this year the final resolution will be announced and the auction will be held.
With this project, the Government seeks to continue with its firm intention of massifying internet access, placing Colombia in a privileged position that allows users to have state-of-the-art services that improve their quality of life.
