Traditional and Internet radio must coexist

Latin America. Given the growth of radio productions via the Internet, traditional radio will have to seek a point of balance and adaptation to new trends, said Manuel Sancho, Production Manager of OMB Broadcast.

During his participation in NAB Show 2019, in Las Vegas, he said: "The traditional FM will have to adapt. The regulations are very clear about it and there is a regulation assigned from the studios to the antenna. The internet intervenes in our lives of great importance and allows us to take advantage of encoders over IP to be able to send a bandwidth to the antenna. From there it is no longer so much a problem of the equipment, but to achieve a quality internet, with sufficient bandwidth and redundancy. If we get that, we can have a quality similar to traditional radio links."

On the products shown at the exhibition, he detailed: "We are presenting a 2 Kv transmitter of the compact series, which we have developed for emerging markets, where they need a price that is important to them. We hadn't considered making those kinds of transmitters, but now we have them. The contribution, in addition to being compact, is that we have that the power supplies are removable, and accessories such as telemetry can be added. A complete transmitter can be configured. We also have the 10 Kv transmor version, made up of two independent 5 Kv modules.

Sancho considered that the company is making firm progress in the region: "OMB is doing very well in Latin America. We have a solid implementation, we have a consolidated market and we will continue to increase the relationship with our customers."
