"The industry is trying to encourage 4K production"

Latin America. Although the year that ends has been complex, it is the best of the last three years for Panasonic in Latin America. This was indicated to TVyVideo+Radio Carlos Black, Broadcast Senior Sales Supervisor of the company for the region. It is important to note that Mexico, Brazil and Argentina have their own structure of attention to the Broadcast market.

"In the last three years there was a decline in the broadcast movement in Latin America, with many conditions in each country, such as political issues, rule changes, low budgets for the creation of new TV productions, causing the industry to paralyze a little. On the other hand, cinematography began to increase in this period in the region," he said.

He added that in the region novels, dramas and documentaries have been moving towards cinematography, which he says is very good because the technical characteristics are totally different and achieve a great production. However, there are still many reservations in the adoption of 4K as the format of daily use in all productions.

"Not all countries have migrated to their digital format, which has meant that technology decisions are more cautious about the levels of investment they have to make. The industry is trying to encourage the production of 4K in novels, which is a little less problematic for the process of transitioning to 4K," he said.

For Carlos Black, engineers today have very difficult decisions to make, because they have been investing in the areas of transmission to adapt to digital TV with large investments. The problem that most engineers have with the migration to 4K is that it implies the change of the entire infrastructure, with important investments to achieve day-to-day work in 4K, added to the increasingly short budgets.

"It is a long process in which customers must be visited and take all the available information and solve their doubts, so that they understand that it is less complicated than you might think. The large channels in the region already work in 4K in some of their productions, although much of the production in the region is still in HD and some in standard," he said.

Some of the trends that should be watched in 2019, is HDR, in addition to PTZ cameras, which are being used in studios and for the production of newscasts, as well as niche markets such as governments and education.

"After these last three years, we are rebounding again with the numbers and we hope that 2019 will be a good year. The opportunities are there and you just have to adapt to the needs of the users," concluded the Panasonic representative.
