TV of the future: 3 aspects that will change in a few years

Brazil. It took more than 30 years for Brazilian television to evolve. Since its arrival in the country, in the 50s, the only change had been in relation to the colors - the programming ceased to be exhibited in black and white and became colorful from the 70s. And finally, in 2007, TV in Brazil began a great transformation in its history: the transition from analog to digital.

In just over ten years, we already have about 80% of the houses adapted to the new system, which brings more image and sound quality, but which, mainly, opens the doors to other cutting-edge resources. Technology does not stop and the evolution of television cannot stop either.

In a few years, watching TV will be very different from what it is today, anticipates the president of the Forum of the Brazilian Digital TV System, José Sócrates Amarillo. "In up to five years we will have, not only 100% of the Brazilian territory adapted to digital TV, but also interactivity, HDR, 4K, immersive audio and EWBS resources in full operation in Brazil," he explained. And if in theory it is difficult to understand what these nomenclatures mean, in practice they will certainly change a lot the way open programming is produced and consumed.

Interactivity
The evolution of the interactivity middleware, the Ginga, has already been initiated by the SBTVD Forum. From that change, it will be possible, for example, to watch TV while voting on the next candidate to be eliminated on their favorite reality show – without needing to leave the main screen. "It is the perfect integration between open programming and internet resources," explained José Marcelo.

Image and sound quality
Much is said about HDR and 4K, but those concepts are not always clear to the consumer. The first is related to the brightness of the screen and the colors. This means that an HDR image has a greater variety of tones and lights than what we see today. 4K has more definition. It is the one that allows the viewer to see small details of the image with greater precision. As for sound, immersive audio promises to revolutionize the user experience. He will give the impression that we are in the scene of the movie we are watching.

EWBS
Imagine being able to anticipate natural disasters and warn the population through audible or visual alerts on televisions. This will be possible shortly through the Emergency Warning Broadcast System (EWBS). This makes it possible to broadcast warnings on televisions and other devices in homes located in areas of imminent risk.

"It will be a great advance if we can foresee events of that magnitude and make it possible to take protective measures," explains the president of the SBTVD Forum. "All these resources are only possible because we managed to bring to Brazil a new standard of TV, the digital one. Now there are no more limits for technology at the service of entertainment and information on Brazilian television," he concluded.
