Latin America. As the SMPTE 2110 standard moves broadcasters towards IP convergence, Belden continues to develop tools for IP networks, whether in category cable or fiber optics, to accompany them in this transition.
However, the American manufacturer does not leave traditional wiring. In fact, it recently renewed its range of coaxials for SDI video, well known in the HD field, to support the new demand for coaxials that support UHD (ultra HD) for uncompressed 4K signals (12 Ghz).
The new family ranges from the mini-coax for rack wiring and equipment interconnection, to RG11 gauge coaxials for long distances, between production forums. This new range carries a pure copper conductor with a silver layer. The surface of this material gives minimal resistance and allows to carry a video signal with bandwidth at 12 Ghz without relevant loss (in compliance with the SMPTE 2082 standard). This new series complements the development of equipment that delivers UHD through a single BNC (avoiding dual or quadruple links).
Therefore, Belden has updated its table of safe distances (which can be found in www.belden.com) to allow users to know what cable they require according to the distance. Likewise, to prevent the connector from becoming a bottleneck, Belden has launched new BNC connectors for SDI-UHD, which tie with this new range of coaxials. The user can connector in the traditional way (3 pieces) or by compression (BNC connectors in one piece).
