Colombia. In the Plaza Sunmit Hotel in the north of Bogotá, the 11th Telecommunications Summit of Colombia was held, with the participation of the National Television Authority, ANTV, with the aim of publicizing the new regulations for the operators of the non-profit community television service (Resolution ANTV 650 of 2018) and the actions that are being undertaken against the anti-piracy issue.
At the meeting, Carolina Figueredo, coordinator of Surveillance, Control and Monitoring of the entity, said in her anti-piracy presentation that "the surveillance function of the ANTV is not to sanction the operators, but the provision of an excellent television service, without ignoring the aspects to improve that some operators have in issues such as the protection of copyright and the development of the production of local content. "
Since June, the ANTV began the process to materialize an anti-piracy alliance with different national authorities such as the Attorney General's Office and the National Directorate of Copyright, as well as particular sectors of the industry, to think about common initiatives to combat this scourge.
Likewise, the ANTV announced the new community television regime; In that sense, the Coordinator of Regulation, Fabiola Téllez, explained that "with the new regulation, community operators have significant advantages such as renewal of the extension of operating licenses without the need to do the paperwork again, as well as exchanging their content with the other operators and community channels in the country, which strengthens the production of content at the local level."
Additionally, the authority made a permanent presence with a stand, where officials of the Administrative Coordination, Concessions and Surveillance, Control and Monitoring, clarified doubts regarding the conditions of provision of the television service and its different modalities.
