Latin America. Arri launched Angelbird's new CFast 2.0 Arri Edition AV PRO AR 256 card. The card is designed and certified for use in the Arri Alexa Mini and Amira* camera systems and can be used for ProRes and MXF/ARRIRAW recording.
Arri has worked closely with Angelbird Technologies GMBH, a high-tech company based in Vorarlberg, Austria. Angelbird is no stranger to film production and some of the equipment it produces can be found at Arri rental sites in Europe. The company's young yet experienced team has a passion for quality and meticulous attention to detail.
"Many of the CFast cards we have tested have yielded good results but generally manufacturers must make several attempts to stabilize their performance for high data rate write patterns," says Oliver Temmler, Product Manager for Media Storage at Arri's headquarters in Munich, Germany. "Angelbird has stood out, really: they listened to us carefully and quickly determined which parameters they should adjust."
For the Cfast Arri Edition card the Angelbird team did not want to be content with something "good" but concentrated on achieving "the best". They developed a specific card for Arri that uses a combination of conductive thermal material with what is known as low fill (or underfill) to provide greater heat dissipation from the chips and to preserve the electronic components from mechanical damage.
The result is a solid 256GB CFast 2.0 card with fully stable recording performance across the entire storage space, making it the perfect addition to setting up an Alexa Mini or Amira camera.
The CFast 2.0 ARRI Edition AV PRO AR 256 card is available on Arri as well as through other sales channels offering Arri products.
*Support for the new CFast 2.0 cards for ALEXA XT, SXT(W) and LF cameras is not currently scheduled.
