TecnoTelevisión&Radio brings together pillars of the orange economy

Colombia. Thanks to the recognized experience of our television producers, the growing radio culture and other sectors that feed on them, such as advertising, cinema and social networks themselves, Colombia is becoming energized in the face of the creation, consumption and export of this type of audiovisual content, even in Bogotá there are 8,900 companies of this type and generate 57,000 jobs.

And it is that the audiovisual world has conquered our national media, it can even be said that there is already a true generation of "Colombians and orange companies". These, usually creative, technological, and lovers of cultural expressions, today stand out internationally for the quality of their work, to such an extent that they are recognized in all latitudes of the world for these products with export quality.

According to Adriana Ramírez, Project Manager of Tecno Televisión & Radio - an event that takes place between October 3 and 5 in Corferias -, "with our fair we want to contribute and update all visitors, managers, engineers, technicians, operators and creatives, dedicated to this important industry, showing them the latest in technological innovations that set the trend of business and new platforms related to the production and postproduction of radio and television, sharing expert knowledge in the development of this important sector at a global level".

Although the orange concept includes activities such as tourism, culinary, dance or handicrafts, the world of audiovisual content continues to be king in the country and thanks to its dynamics, it has become an important marker of the technology and inputs market for companies and production studios and post-production of radio and television, radio stations, advertising companies, and in the same way, for distributors and companies specialized in content transmission.

This industry, which in 2017 made exports for 209.2 million dollars, begins to generate very important dynamics also in Medellín and Cali and today makes significant progress in the generation of qualified employment for students of university careers and techniques related to the audiovisual arts, the direction, production and realization of cinema, radio and television, as well as professionals in multimedia communication and new media.

This rising trend promises to improve even more with the challenge posed by the new Colombian government, to boost the creative economy sector with the implementation of Law 1834 of 2017, or orange law, which has the purposes of formalizing the creative industries, developing a physical and virtual infrastructure suitable for this purpose and involving this philosophy to the institutions of the public sectors, private and mixed.

Likewise, with this law, government efforts will have to be aimed at generating integration and inclusion and encouraging the participation of "orange creatives" in real and virtual scenarios that show the national talent to inspire participatory culture. Private initiatives such as congresses, meetings, exhibitions and fairs dedicated to this industry are already important manifestations that demonstrate the growth of this sector.

According to Richard Santa, academic coordinator of Tecno Televisión & Radio, "the contribution of our fair to the production industry and content creatives, protagonists of the orange economy movement, goes beyond a large commercial exhibition and networking spaces, since one of our great interests is to share knowledge through specialized conferences".

According to the report called "The Future of the Orange Economy: Creative Formulas to Improve Lives in Latin America and the Caribbean, published by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Institute for the Future (IFTF), the visual arts among other creative and cultural industries such as graphic design, music, fashion and digital games, generated revenues of US$124 billion in 2015, and promoted employment for more than 1.9 million people in the region.

TecnoTelevisión&Radio will be held from October 3 to 5 in the Great Hall of the Corferias convention center in Bogotá. For more visit www.tecnotelevision.com
