International. In the midst of the alerts generated by Hurricane Florence that affected the east coast of the United States during the last days, a video went viral on social networks in which an explanation of the possible consequences of this phenomenon prior to its arrival is made.
In the video that was produced by The Weather Channel, a virtual set in 3D with augmented reality was used that was representing each of the explanations of the consequences that Hurricane Florence could have in North Carolina.
The visual effects of the channel are made with Unreal Engine, a software used for the development of video games that the channel uses since June to explain weather phenomena.
The host of the video is Erika Navarro, M.S./Ph.D in Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Washington, who helps the channel offer explanations about scientific content in clear language and with useful information for viewers, one of the objectives of the channel.
The Weather Channel is an IBM channel dedicated to covering climate issues that uses the company's AI-based analytics systems. It delivers around 26 billion forecasts per day, covering 2.2 billion locations worldwide every 15 minutes.
