Plisch-Elettronika: In transmitters we always look to the future

Latin America. The conglomerate formed by transmitter manufacturers Plisch and Elettronika has positioned itself as a strong competitor in the Americas, mainly in the United States. With integral transmitters, its offer is positioned among the most requested by broadcasters in the region, including south American countries, said Rubén Navarro, CEO of Elettronika.

"Plisch are liquid state digital high-power UHF transmitters, always on the high-power line in a range of 10 KV to 100 KV. Elettronica was left with the low power range and they are air-cooled. This new partnership allows to expand the range of products. In Plisch we do not sell many options, everything is integrated into the equipment, while competitor products live on the options, give many accessories and at first seems to have a low cost, but when added it turns out to have a high price. We offer comprehensive products at a fixed price," he said of the Plisch transmitters.

The executive offered a brief overview of the transmitter market in South American countries. "These models are the same ones that we distribute in South America, but there are even local manufacturers, which are also our competition for the price, and that is nothing positive, because a transmitter is a device that is bought for the long term and who buys cheap at most will have a transmitter for a year or year and a half."

"A transmitter of ours has a guaranteed life of seven years, but I have transmitters operating since 2000, that is, 18 years operating. In order for a transmitter to be long-lived and operating over time, based on how technology advances, we must maintain on the old lines of transmitters some care and monitoring, interface the components that have already been decommissioned by other manufacturers, such as power supplies, filters, directional couplers or fans. "

Navarro concluded: "We have always had the policy of looking to the future, which means that what I sell today must be valid during those seven years, since if the format is changed you would have to withdraw that transmitter and buy a new one, and that is why we have so many customers and we are strong in the United States. With us you do not have to discard the transmitter; just a new software key, without touching a single piece of the transmitter when the standard changes. That's an added value we give to our teams."
