Latin America. By switching to open source, Based on Linux, Barix's products have been widely accepted in regions such as Latin America, as customers can adapt it to their particular needs, said Paulo Muñoz, Sales Manager at Barix Technology.
"The perspective is that the new products we have, that we move to open platform based on Linux, we are going to make different codecs. We think it's going to help sales in Latin America a lot. Before we had proprietary software, now we switch to Linux which is an open platform with which you can do much more things, "said the executive.
He added: "Even custimizing it for the customer, that's why we relied on the Barix 1000, with totally open programming; in the box there is nothing inside, you program it with your own program."
And he said: "•In Latin America they buy a lot from us in Mexico, Central America, Brazil and Peru the purchase is not constant but they ask us for information, sales for Latin America are fine, that is, the presence of the company is important. Mexico buys a lot from us."
On the developments shown at NAB Show 2018, Muñoz mentioned: "The new products are called Redundix, which is a redundancy system that works with the same products that you already have, the Instreamer and the Exstreamer: basically the signal of the Instreamer the part in two, then if one of the passages falls the other would follow and arrives again at the other redundancy box and the packages are put together, so as not to lose audio and to make it something more reliable."
