249 projects applied to the CNTV 2018 fund

Chile. With a total of 249 projects, it closed the application to the Fund-CNTV 2018, after concluding the online application to the contest. As in previous years, the Non-Fiction line is the most requested, but this year the applicants to the competitive lines aimed at children and historical series or documentaries increased markedly compared to last year.

In this 2018 version, the CNTV Fund has $4,316,772,000 to allocate between 8 competitive lines and the Fund for Audiovisual Projects of Community Interest, to which about $275,000,000 of this year's total amount are allocated. To date, 41 programs of Community Interest have been awarded, since the creation of this line in 2015.

The next stages of the contest are the technical-financial evaluation of the postulated projects and then the content, which are carried out by a panel of experts appointed by the Council, after a public tender of the evaluators.

The final results of the contest are announced in September 2018.

Of the 201 projects postulated among these lines, 172 correspond to production companies that apply without a committed channel at this stage.

15 of the projects in competition do come with an associated national channel: 11 of them come with TVN; 3 associated with Canal 13; and 1 with CHV. There are 5 other applicants who associated with regional channel.

In turn, there are three applications that run on behalf of national channels: Canal 13, MEGA and UCV. And four other projects correspond to regional channels applying for themselves: One from ITV Patagonia; and three of Communications.

Also, there are two local channels that apply on their own, these are the Catholic University of Temuco, and Espinoza and Cáceres Productores Ltda.

In the line of international co-productions, there are projects associated with Germany, Mexico, Colombia, Spain and Argentina.

The CNTV Fund for 26 years has financed projects of programs for television of high artistic content and accessible to all Chileans continues to be the most significant support provided in the country for the creation and production of quality television programs.

Through this contest, iconic programs of Chilean television have been awarded such as "El Reemplazante", "Los Archivos del Cardenal", "31 Minutos", the historical miniseries "NO", "Los 80", "Violeta se fue a los cielos", "Con qué sueñas", among others.
