MTC trained broadcasters on piracy reduction

Peru. The Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, provided training to about 30 radio entrepreneurs in the Junín region, in order to promote the formal activity of telecommunications operators and disseminate the work plan to reduce and eliminate piracy, among other issues. It was the second workshop of the year that was held at the Citizen Service Center (CAC) of Huancayo, administered by the sector.

With this activity, the MTC continues to deconcentrate its services in the regions and contributes to the training of radio administrators. In the CACs, which are located in 11 regions of the country, the ministry also holds regular workshops on topics related to transport and communications regulations, procedures and provisions.

The workshop, entitled "Development of telecommunications and opportunities for the progress of the regions", was given by specialists from the General Directorate of Communications Control and Supervision (DGCSC), a unit under the Vice Ministry of Communications of the MTC.

During the event, a diagnosis on illegality in the radio sector was presented and the DGCSC's work plan for 2018 was reported, which is aimed at strengthening this area of telecommunications. The actions carried out to eradicate informality were also detailed, such as the control and seizure of equipment of pirate operators; and in favour of the application of codes of ethics in broadcasting activities.

In addition, scientific studies carried out by national and international entities that demonstrate the safety of non-ionizing radiation (NIR) in telecommunications were disseminated.  According to these investigations, the exposure limits are part of the country's environmental quality standards for non-ionizing radiation.

On the other hand, the experts of the DGCSC also participate today in the "Regional Forum development of Telecommunications, Antennas and Health", which is being developed in the Regional Government of Junín.

The event is also attended by specialists from the General Directorate of Socio-Environmental Affairs (DGASA), the Telecommunications Investment Fund (FITEL) and the General Directorate of Regulation and International Communications Affairs (DGRAIC), who will explain the activities they carry out on behalf of the MTC to continue developing the telecommunications sector for the benefit of the country's population.
