The department of Antioquia has 59,550 users (1,180 in Medellín) and 76 organized communities, of which four belong to this municipality.
The National Television Authority (ANTV) held the third day of socialization and discussion of the Community Television Service Provision Regime in Medellín, where it was proposed to simplify the license process to seven requirements, among other benefits for the organized communities providing the service for the benefit of the population.
Community Television has an emphasis on social and community content, and the purpose is to meet the educational, recreational and cultural needs of viewers. The department of Antioquia has 59,550 users (1,180 in Medellín) and 76 organized communities, of which four belong to this municipality.
During the installation of this third day, Gabriel Jaime Vieira Posada, member of the National Television Board (JNTV), representing the country's universities, said that: "Community television is key because it is dedicated to the interests of the population, thinking about their needs. This is why it is important to know the new regime so that partners and associations are strengthened."
Likewise, Ernesto Orozco Orozco, Representative of the Governorates before the JNTV, said that: "The ANTV serves as an interlocutor with the community television associations so that this regime allows them to catch up with their obligations and provide a service that positively impacts the communities."
The regulatory project proposes to generate a more efficient scheme for the community television sector. Advances against piracy in television
In addition to the socialization of the Community Television Service Provision Regime, there was a space to share with the attendees on the 'Technical and legal aspects of the provision of the illegal television service and copyright violation', and to know the efforts made by the ANTV, actions aimed at combating television piracy, to socialize the effects that this phenomenon generates to the market, to publicize the scope of the rights that apply to authors and broadcasting organizations; and to show the modalities of defrauding the television service.
Ernesto Orozco Orozco revealed that, based on the strategies for the control and prevention of television piracy created by the ANTV, there have been important results that have materialized in: 130 technical visits to operators, 150 sanctions to providers of the illegal TV service, the confiscation of equipment from 20 operators and inter-institutional alliances to combat this crime.
This series of socializations began in Bogotá and aims to socialize and discuss the Community Television Service Provision Regime, the presentation of the regulatory project and the clarification of specific cases.
The conference will continue this Wednesday, January 24 in Cúcuta, at the facilities of the TRO Channel, while in Popayán it will be on Friday, January 26, in the auditorium of Unicomfacauca.
