Seminar analyzed advances in the digitization of AM and FM radio

Mexico. HD Radio held a seminar that aimed to publicize the scope and benefits that digital radio offers to broadcasters and listeners, which was attended by the most important representatives of the radio industry in Mexico.

The lectures and technical content were given by HD Radio engineers. Important officials from the Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) and the National Chamber of the Radio and Television Industry (CIRT), among others, also participated, who addressed issues such as:

  • Status of HD Radio technology (US, Mexico and Canadian history).
  • HD Radio deployment configurations for a station.
  • Importer configuration for multiprogramming and data services.
  • Regulatory considerations that broadcasters must take into account when initiating digital transmissions.
  • Success stories of HD Radio stations in the USA (services, programming, return on investment).

In addition, a panel was presented where some stations that already have HD Radio transmissions, shared their experience and called on new stations to carry out the digital transition for the benefit of their audiences.

Important radio groups that have led digital radio in Mexico attended the event. Among them we can mention for example: Grupo Fórmula, Grupo Radio Centro, NRM Comunicaciones, Grupo Televisa, Instituto Mexicano de la Radio (IMER), Radio Educación, Radio Oro, Radiorama, Stereo Uno, Radio, Alegría, Radio Ibero, etc.

Additionally and as an attractive framework of the event, in the exhibition area attendees had the opportunity to live the experience  of listening to digital radio in different receivers for both home and car.

It should be noted that there are currently more than 70 car models of 16 brands that are sold in Mexico with HD Radio technology included.

With the realization of the HD Radio Seminar, which marks the celebration of the fifth anniversary of the systematic work carried out by HD Radio in Mexico for the launch and promotion of technology in Mexico, the organization reaffirms its commitment to continue supporting the development of digital radio in our country.
