Latin America. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the recipients of the 69th Engineering Emmy Awards. Arri was recognized with the television industry's most prestigious award for outstanding achievements in engineering development for its Arri Alexa digital cinema camera system.
The Television Academy Engineering Emmy Awards are given to individuals, companies or organizations for those developments in engineering that significantly improve existing methods or for innovations that materially affect television broadcasting, recording or reception.
"The digital imaging functionalities of the Arri Alexa camera system, together with its fully integrated workflow in post-production represent dynamic and transformative television technology. The original features of this tool, including its cohesive post-production color process, built-in recording of both raw and compressed video images, and an easy-to-use interface have contributed to the television industry's widespread adaptation to technology," said the Television Academy.
The ALEXA digital system was introduced in 2010 and immediately became the camera of choice for television and film productions. Some standout shows captured with Alexa include some of the recent Emmy Award winners: The Handmaid's Tale, The Night Of, Veep, Big Little Lies, along with Game of Thrones, Man in the High Castle, Mozart in the Jungle, Insecure, Modern Family, and many more.
The Engineering Emmy Award is particularly significant this year as 2017 marks Arri's centennial. Filmmakers August Arnold and Robert Richter founded the company in 1917 in Munich, Germany. The award will be presented to Arri at the awards ceremony on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel.
