Mexico. With the opening of new digital terrestrial television channels in Mexico, Harmonic offers various solutions in a wide range of prices. The goal, said Mario Betancourt, the company's Director of Sales for Mexico, is to capture the largest market share.
"Harmonic seeks to reach the market with low-cost solutions, such as channel-in-a-box, solutions in which they can have in a single package how they can assemble one to four channels for a small station and with a reasonably small investment and that launch fast content," said the executive during Expo Cine, Video and TV 2017, held at the World Trade Center in Mexico City.
On the solutions they offered, hand in hand with the distributor AMTEC, he said: "We present two topics: the creation of IP flows for playout, the advances we have had and what are the challenges to be covered. As well as the insertion of commercial guidelines or spots in broadcast, satellite and over-the-top (OTT) networks. The insertion of commercials, due to all government requirements, is well received and the migration of playout is a logical evolution that broadcasters must make."
Betancourt said of the company's performance in 2017: "In the first half there were downward expectations, but the second half will be quite good; we see signs that the Mexican market is starting to pick up again, which will be very good for everyone. In Latin America there will also be a rebound in the second half to close the year well."
