Market has more options before new DTT signals

Mexico. Given the delivery of free-to-air TV concessions in Mexico, the Mexican broadcast market will be energized and effective solutions must be offered for these new challenges, said Alfredo Osorio, Business Development Manager of Rohde & Schwarz Mexico.

"With new television stations, the success that was had when there was the analog blackout is expected. The owners of the new television stations will be a challenge and more work, because they are not the regular customers and you have to give a lot of information about the brand, "he said during his participation in Expo Cine, Video and TV 2017.

And he added in the exhibition held at the World Trade Center in Mexico City: "We have 40% of the market from the entire installed base in digital transmitters to the analog blackout, it is the largest reference we can give to aspiring dealers. And it is also a reference for the radio industry that will have released several frequencies, the radio market we are just pushing for a year because we did not have the technology of HD radio. We have tried to convince that industry with our high-power transmitters and it is liquid cooling – it is a new concept for radio unlike TV, where it is already about 15 years old – and we try to make them see what are the benefits of opting for this technology. "

Osorio described as positive that these TV concessions have not been given to a single national network: "We can assist one by one with the new concessionaires, we will have to multiply efforts. We see it as positive that it has not been closed to a national network, because more bidders are given to the tender. For us, as a manufacturer, it is very good because going for a single customer nationwide gives a binary result, or all or nothing, and although now it is more work, it is positive because it gives more opportunity to have several customers. "
