Arsat Celebrates Commercial Success of Arsat-2

Argentina. The president of Arsat, Rodrigo de Loredo, led a second trade mission to the United States, which culminated the intense commercialization process started in 2016 that results in the total sale of the capacity of the Arsat-2 satellite, consolidating the company's self-sustainability.

In this regard, de Loredo explained: "We developed a strong commercial strategy with the aim of having a presence in the international market and positioning the Arsat brand in the world. From this intense work we closed important contracts that allow us to affirm, less than a year later, that we managed to sell the capacity of the Arsat-2 and bring foreign investment."

Of the commercial contracts achieved, de Loredo highlighted the importance of the last sale made by the company in the United States and that in this mission they are finalizing because "it was the result of a private tender where Arsat competed with other world companies, winning the process for the technical conditions of our services and the prices offered, something that really fills us with pride."

The importance of this commercial achievement lies, in general, in two fundamental aspects. De Loredo explained that: "On the one hand, it allows us to conclude with the loss situation generated by the previous management that put a satellite into orbit without having managed its pre-sale and without having initiated the previous processes for its commercialization. This negligence of Kirchnerism imposed on us a loss of at least 10 million dollars, which is what Arsat could not raise because it had almost a year and a half a satellite without enough customers."

The other aspect of the commercial achievement that implies the total sale of the capacity of the Arsat-2 has to do with the increase in the monthly income of the state company that in June has collected for this concept 2.3 times more than what was collected in January, and will close the year with revenues close to 15 million dollars.

"Making an estimated projection, in five years Argentina will raise more than 110 million dollars as a result of the export of national satellite services," de Loredo emphasized.

In addition to the above, the sale of the services that Arsat provides through its second satellite will allow the public company to reach in 2018 the objective of raising the 22 million dollars foreseen in the Base Study of Costs and Goals of the arsat-2, in order to recover the investment made, cover the maintenance expenses and obtain a minimum profit.

Arsat 2 also has a C-band capability. It is sold for 15% and the remainder is reserved for customers who are in the process of buying; another percentage for occasional use (it is more cost-effective); and a final portion is designated as a back-up as suggested in the industry.

The new paradigm in satellite matters
The national government, as in the case of commercial aviation, carries out the policy of increasing the offer of satellite connectivity services in order to improve the quality of services and reduce the price of access to them by Argentine citizens.

Within this framework, eleven satellites were approved so far this year that began to operate in the Argentine sky and compete in the provision of their services with the national company Arsat.
