Colombia assumes the Executive Secretariat of the CACI

Colombia. The Conference of Cinematographic Authorities of Ibero-America, CACI, is a body created in 1989 and of which 21 countries are part. Its purpose is to contribute to the development of cinematography within the audiovisual space of Ibero-American countries.

At the XXXI Meeting of the Conference of Audiovisual and Cinematographic Authorities of Ibero-America, in Lisbon, Portugal, Colombia, represented by Adelfa Martínez, Director of Cinematography of the Ministry of Culture, she was elected to serve as Executive Secretary.

"Our candidacy has been an interesting and very exciting process, as it has put us in the exercise of seeing ourselves in the context of the experiences of other countries and their various ways of building industry, to make the self-analysis of the successes and challenges of film policy in our country, and determine how we can contribute with our learnings and achievements to the Conference during the next two years, "- said Adelfa Martinez.

Colombia's candidacy is presented at a stage where the Ibero-American audiovisual space is strengthened with the recent entry into force of the Protocol of Amendment to the Ibero-American Cinematographic Integration Agreement, which granted the Conference of Audiovisual and Cinematographic Authorities of Ibero-America, CAACI, the character of international organization and legal personality giving it the capacity to celebrate all kinds of necessary acts and contracts.

Adelfa Martínez added that the decision to present the candidacy at this time of development and trajectory of cooperation of the Conference, responds to the fact that they are convinced that those who make it up have reached maturity to trust in the articulated work and support of all ibero-American authorities. And that a country like Colombia can contribute to moving forward with consolidated projects and to assume the new challenges involved in strengthening the management of CAACI, with the new powers conferred by being part of an international organization with administrative and legal capacities.

With a career of eight years in the Ministry of Culture and the Directorate of Cinematography, Adelfa Martínez has accompanied successful projects such as Law 1556, the implementation of the 814 film law, the design of the Latin American film distribution platform Retina Latina, the implementation of "Colombia de película: nuestro cine para todos", among others.

In the Program presented by Adelfa Martínez, priority was given to the Continuity of the programs and actions that CAACI has been developing, such as Doctv Latin America, Ibermedia TV and the digital platform Pantalla CACI that respond to the mission of the Conference in its strategies to promote production and circulation.

On the other hand, a call was made to strengthen the preservation and conservation of the Ibero-American cinematographic heritage as a fundamental axis of the audiovisual memory of the region.
