Enacom initiated standardization of the FM radio spectrum

Argentina. At the last meeting of the Board of Directors of Enacom, the regulatory body of Argentina decided to raise a draft decree to call for a public tender to oppose the owners of FM stations that have provisional precarious permits (PPP) and recognized radio stations of community services, with the aim of starting the path of their normalization in areas of high spectral congestion.

For this, it is necessary that these owners have maintained both the ownership and regularity of their issues, as well as the conditions and technical parameters of issuance. The rest must be presented in accordance with the obligations provided for in the decree.

With this decision, Enacom not only advances in a path of continuity of public policies to continue improving the communications of all citizens based on current problems, but also catches up with pending issues such as the normalization of PPPs and those recognized as community radios, an issue that had remained unresolved since the late 80s.'

The meeting also approved an agreement with EDUC.AR for the development of the "Digital Educational Networks" Project that aims to provide a technological floor to all educational establishments in the country. The project is part of Enacom's policies aimed at  universalizing broadband in Argentina. With this initiative, 46,000 public educational establishments will be reached, which implies connecting 9 million students throughout the country.

The meeting also resolved 5 awards by competition, 2 direct awards of FM, 3 transfers of license ownership, 12 authorizations and 10 authorizations of which 6 were for municipalities, 2 for schools in Buenos Aires and Chaco, 1 for a commune of Santa Fe and 1 for a station of an original town called Agrupación Mapuche Currumil de Neuquén. In addition, 43 Única Argentina Digital Licenses, 5 registrations, 1 expiration and 5 transfers and/or change of ownership were assigned.
