NAB. With the acquisition of Volicon in 2016, Verizon Digital Media Services expanded its portfolio of services for the broadcast industry, primarily in the areas of video streaming, OTT and TVE, said Jossi Fresco Benaim, Regional Director for Latin America at Verizon Digital Media Services.
"Volicon is now an integrated platform in our solutions portfolio. We launched at NAB 2017 our Media Xperience Studio service, which is a 'Content Intelligence Service (CIS),' including applications on all devices for the end user, monetization, personalization, programming and analytics. Also, we have our video streaming platform, live events, VOD and SVOD, called Uplynk Video Streaming, in addition to the compliance and monitoring part through Volicon Media Intelligence," said Fresco.
The executive mentioned that they added Verizon to Volicon customers. "What we have done with Volicon at Verizon after the acquisition, is that we have a switch in volicon's software, in which you click and immediately the video, whether live, linear, or VOD, can be put on over-the-top (OTT) platforms, supported on more than 400 types of devices with all the benefits offered by the platform. That is, all current Volicon customers can become an OTT operator, simply by clicking."
Fresco Benaim said, "Volicon customers (about 1,200), which we supplement with Verizon platforms, should not buy encoders, cloud storage, or anything else. Our solutions include all of this. In a market as competitive as OTT, you must have quality and scalability. We covered more than 26,000 live events in a year, with millions of people watching concurrently."
