NAB. One of GatesAir's main bets is the gradual implementation of the ATSC 3.0 protocol in Latin America. During NAB Show 2017 -held in Las Vegas-, the company held a live demonstration of transmission in this standard.
This was one of gates Air's main launches, said Ernesto Fajardo, the company's director of sales for Latin America and the Caribbean.
"We have been participating in NAB for 25 years and we bring innovative products, such as ATSC 3.0, which will make differentiations in Latin America and around the world. We have an example of ATSC 3.0 working; we did the first presentation in South Korea and already in several places in the United States it is working; customers are asking for demos and implementations."
The executive stated that GatesAir has implemented new technologies in these developments: "We have the FM or TV transmitters that work with the liquid cooled technology created by us, which makes them more efficient, and the competition has not been able to replicate."
On the penetration of the company's teams in the region, he said: "We have good participation from customers in Peru, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico. We are excited about the investments GatesAir is making in Latin America and the Caribbean.
He added: "The adoption of digital TV is a wave in the region that cannot be stopped, as is the adoption for IP and the IT industry, which was analogous and these new technologies were adopted. That's how we see the future of technology."
