What to expect from NAB Show 2017?

NAB. Again, as every year in April, the radio and television industry will meet at its most important event of the year to learn about the novelties in technology that will allow more, better and redefined content, aimed at multiple screens, with new workflows and new revenue streams.

There are many novelties that are presented in an event like this. One of them is the formalization of a single IP standard, on which the different manufacturers and associations have been working, through which interoperability between all the standards currently available will be allowed. The SMPTE 2110 will help to massify the installation of IP technology in the broadcast industry.

The fair will have specific topics that will surely not go unnoticed, such as the cybersecurity pavilion, which is of greater interest because the world continues to be increasingly dependent on cloud and digital platforms, so the need for high cybersecurity is at its highest.

There will also be a special Presentation of Facebook Live, showcasing the options it provides to allow people and publishers to share experiences, impactful moments, and compelling programming with a global audience on Facebook. Much of the content that now appears live through Facebook has become highly produced, even deeper coupling with the audience.

Other new topics that will be seen at NAB Show 2017, are the presentation of ATSC 3.0, the state of the art of IP for broadcast, and a conceptual area to show the prototypes of the new technologies that will be protagonists of the future of the industry. 

Finally, it is worth noting that NAB Show 2017 will have its exhibition segmented into 8 categories:

  • Acquisition and Production, Cenral Hall
  • Display Systems, South Lower Hall
  • Distribution / Delivery / Online Video, South Upper Hall
  • Management Systems, North Hall
  • Outdoor/Mobile Media, LVCC Orange Lot
  • Post-production, South Lower Hall
  • Pro Audio, Central Hall
  • Radio, North Hall

Latinos, present at NAB 2017
There are several events in which professionals from the Latin American broadcast industry are protagonists in the framework of NAB Show 2017. Brazil and Argentina will have pavilions with technology from local manufacturers. In addition, a delegation of professionals from Peru will visit the fair with the support of the U.S. Embassy in that country.

Also highlighted are events organized for the Latino public, such as the technological and innovation forum that Sony will hold on Sunday, April 23 or the meeting of Avid technology users, which although it is aimed at all the company's customers, Latinos have an important participation.

Between April 24 and 27, the 2017 version of the NAB Show will be held. And TVyVideo+Radio will be present at the fair to bring its readers all the news of the industry.
