International. Sony is the proud winner of the Peter Wayne Award for Design and Innovation from the International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers (IABM). Valued by a jury of renowned specialists, it is a much desired award in recognition of an extraordinary technical advance.
This award is the culmination of a series of awards given to Sony's Media Backbone Hive. Earlier this year at IBC, he was awarded iaBM's prestigious Design and Innovation award. A recognition that adds to the previous IABM Game Changer award that Media Backbone Hive received in the disputed Post-Production category. This award is announced every year at the NAB fair and pays tribute to the efforts of providers to offer innovative solutions to the broadcast industry.
The jury concluded: "The transformation of traditional hardware and software comes together in a more flexible node architecture that will provide users with greater flexibility and therefore access to functionality that would not be available otherwise. It is an important and exclusive end-to-end production system that uses cloud-based technology. This architecture implies that it is truly scalable and cost-effective to implement."
Media Backbone Hive is the latest network production system for all Sony media with an advanced scalable platform based on Hyper Convergent Nodes technology. The sports and news production system provides comprehensive workflow and content management from camera to file, with a number of customer advantages in terms of speed, ease of integration and unprecedented flexibility.
